George Shaw

George Shaw is a Turner Prize nominated artist known for his suburban paintings, his naturalistic style and use of Humbrol enamel paints in his work. He was born in Coventry in 1966 and his work reflects his surroundings growing up in the Tile Hill area in the 1970's with images of the mundane and everyday which have struck a resonance with the viewer provoking memories of childhood and the past. George Shaw exhibited at BALTIC in 2010 with the exhibition The Sly and the Unseen Day and again in 2011 as part of the Turner Prize exhibition.
