In 1969 there was a plan to create the City of Tyneside, uniting Newcastle and Gateshead together by building the TyneDeck - a huge structure covering the Tyne and stretching across the Quayside on each side of the river.
As part of the exhibition, Idea of the North, at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Jimmy Turrell designed a stunning collage interpreting his vision as to what would have happened to the people of Newcastle and Gateshead if the TyneDeck had been built. From those images, Turrell has created this fantastic t-shirt showing a overhead plan of the mighty TyneDeck plus the symbols of the city and town it would have united if the plans had got the go ahead.
This is a cool north east t-shirt with a difference and is very limited so don't miss out on a piece of north east history with added edge as part of the Great Exhibition of the North.
