Capturing the decline the the area of Newcastle, Rye Hill, had fallen into by the 1960's, photographer Carolyn Scott focussed on the local residents and their environment.
With the closing of the mines and ship building disappearing, the west side of Newcastle saw its fortunes diminish and the houses went from affluent to slums. This photos show the struggle of this area at this time but Scott also finds the humanity, humour and community in these intimate moments.
Small paperback with 36 pages.
