Mid-Century Modern Girl is in fact a Chinese lady called Monika Pon who lived in South Africa when the Russian painter Vladimir Tretchikoff came across her and asked her to model for him. Why he chose a greeny blue hue for her face is something of a mystery but it most definitely captured the mood of people decorating their homes in the middle of last century. and became one of the most copied art images in the world.
