The first monograph in 19 years celebrating the work and life of US artist Judy Chicago.
Now in her 80th year, Chicago has been creating art since the 50's and is an advocate and founder of the Feminist art movement. Chicago looks to sex, birth, violence and the natural world for inspiration in her work and brings a powerful presence to her practice. This monograph reevaluates her impact on the art world and her contribution to art history with new essays, illustrations and interviews bringing her collection if work up to date in a beautifully designed book.
Judy Chicago will be exhibiting at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art from 16th November - 19th April and the show will span Chicago's fifty-year career, from her early actions in the desert in the 1970's, to her most recent series, The End: A Meditation on Death and Extinction (2013–16), which has not been previously shown outside of the US. This monograph supports this exhibition.
