'Gannin along the Scotswood Road..'
Scotswood Road resident, Jimmy Forsyth, started taking photographs along the famous Newcastle road in the 1950s. And then didn't stop taking photographs in the decades following, creating an archive of the changing landscape, culture and social changes which is still seen as an important historical collection today. This book provides a fascinating insight into a particular moment in time, when streets were pulled down, communities changed forever and new social housing was introduced. It also celebrates the human side of the people of Scotswood as Forsyth was one of their own, becoming a well known local figure with his trusty box camera.
