David Hockney in Normandy
Even before COVID had caused almost the whole world to shut down, Hockney had already decided to take himself off to his farmhouse in Normandy, France to take some time out and rediscover his love of nature. Making sure he was there to appreciate Spring coming into bloom, Hockney created art work which captured perfectly the beauty around us from nature while the madness elsewhere was happening. He also took time to catch up with Martin Gayford, a good friend and art critic, which wide ranging conversation is featured in this wonderfully produced book. A great read for art lovers and historians alike, perfect to be read in the garden with a cup of tea and the birds singing.
