by Tisha Murtha
For those people that remember the north east under Thatcher's rule, this book could be the perfect embodiment of this desolate time. The photographer, Tisha Murtha, was from South Shields and could understand the pain of unemployment and dispossession that was inflicted on the people of Tyneside and the surrounding region which means these stark yet beautiful black and white photographs contain historical document but also the humanity (and sometimes the lack of humanity) of the young people she was capturing on camera under Thatcher's regime. An important book, highlighting dreadful times in our quite recent north east history.
Paper back book, 198 pages and free P&P.
