The word Trouvaille is the French word for ‘Something lovely discovered by chance’, which not only sums up the local landmarks used in these fabulous stitch kits, but Trouvaille themselves – we came across the brand at one of our Craft Fairs last May and knew we had to stock them! Jennifer is the founder of Trouvaille Stitch Kits, and took her love of craft, creating, design and the north east to make beautiful kits suitable for all stitching abilities. Based in Whitley Bay, Jennifer started Trouvaille at the beginning of 2020 and has since begun to design and produce the stitch kits full time.
We caught up with Jennifer to ask her about what inspires her
‘My mission is to create beginner friendly stitch kits so people can create local art for their home in a calming and mindful way through cross stitch. I’m really keen to highlight the lesser known wonders of the UK and inspire people to get out in nature and discover them in real life too! Since I produced the first kit of Sunny St Mary’s I’ve expanded the range to 10 local landmarks and am keen to travel further around the UK through my stitch kits!
I've enjoyed doing crafts and generally being creative since a very young age but struggled to find craft kits that were modern and represented the things and places that meant the most to me, so I designed my own! I am surrounded by inspiration with the varied beauty of the North east, from beaches to cities, medieval to modern, and industrial to breathtaking nature. When it comes to why I live in the north east, it's home. I've moved away throughout my life to Scotland, the North West and even Bristol, but I always felt the pull back to the friendly, beautiful North East that I'm so very proud of.’
