Zoe Cotterill is a Newcastle based architectural illustrator, creating vibrant and unique watercolour illustrations of local landmarks, pubs, cafes and venues. Originally from Hull, Zoe moved up to the north east to study Graphic Design, with illustration work always being on the sideline as a hobby. During the 2020 lockdown - which coincided with her final year at University - she started to fill her spare time with illustration and found a love for sketching buildings and the architecture across the city of Newcastle and Gateshead. What started out as rough sketchbook drawings and paintings soon caught the eye of people on social media and she soon realised the Geordies love to celebrate the wonderful and many independent venues that the city has to offer. She has spent the last six years continuing to illustrate various cafes, pubs and venues across Newcastle and the north east, exhibiting her work at various art markets across the city and growing her collection of north east paintings.
Baltic has joined forces with INNSiDE to showcase local artistic talent within their beautiful hotel in this stunning location. Reflecting the hotel's commitment to celebrate local art, there is now a dedicated exhibition space within the hotel, located on the Newcastle Quayside, where guests can purchase original art and limited editions that will support local artists.
