A City by the Sea

Based in the north east (next to the sea!), A City by the Sea is the brain child of Andrew, a designer and illustrator who’s mantra is ‘Love Where You Live, Live Where You Love’. His particular love of the North East coastline manifests itself into the form of beautiful prints of the local area which are  graphic in style as well as having a vintage travel poster vibe. Whether your heart belongs to Whitley Bay, Newcastle or all the way up to Alnmouth, these striking images pay homage to one of the most beautiful regions in the UK.

We asked Andrew about his creative journey, inspiration and what he feels about where he lives:

‘I initially started ‘A City By The Sea’ as a creative outlet for myself. I have lived and worked in the North East all of my life. As a result, I am passionate about celebrating the local area. Having studied and practiced as a Graphic Designer throughout my twenties, I felt like I could combine my skills and passion into something more coherent and tangible. Since its inception, I have developed my design skills considerably, creating a range of designs across print and other products, whilst collaborating with several other local businesses.

It won't come as a surprise to read that I’m mostly inspired by the local coastline. The North East is an area full of beauty, as well as the most friendly and supportive community. I feel so lucky to have so much inspiration right on my doorstep. Fuelled by my passion for the local area, I hope to continue to showcase and celebrate the North East further.
