Nina Simone's Gum - Warren Ellis
Please select all options.
A memoir of things lost and found.
Back in 1999, musician and composer Warren Ellis took a piece of Nina Simone's gum after she'd finished one her final ever sets. Ellis kept the gum wrapped in Simone's towel for many years, keeping it as a talisman and memento for a moment of musical magic captured in Simone's performance and essence. Eventually, with a collaboration between Ellis and his good friend Nick Cave, the gum was cast in silver and gold and became part of Cave's exhibition Stranger Than Fiction. This book, written by Ellis with an introduction by Cave, is a fascinating and entertaining journey of Ellis and the gum, reaching far deeper and more into the personal than you would believe a stick of gum could.
