Alex Sickling is a ceramicist and illustrator who was born, lives and works in Gateshead. After graduating from Leeds College of Art in 2012, Alex has gone on to create a fantastic catalogue of work both in ceramics and t-shirt design and is a regular at craft and makers fairs up and down the country. BALTIC Shop first started working with Alex in 2015 when we asked Alex to create something for the Bill Murray exhibition. Thus was born the awesome Bill Murray film t-shirt which not only caused a Bill Murray filled sensation at the time, but is still one of our bestsellers today. Alex’s influences include folklore, popular culture and 18^th and 19^th Century pottery as well as the animal kingdom - specifically her own little pup – Olive! When not producing pots in her home studio, Alex loves to travel around the UK and far beyond, but we think it’s fair to say, her heart belongs to the north.
